Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today
NL Daily Devotion for Friday, August 7, 2020
by R. M. Fergus, Clergy Stuff
I often wonder where I’m going. I joke about trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up (I’m forty-eight). I am single again after a thirty-year relationship. I am living in a state of flux. Yet I feel a strong call to the work of climate justice at the intersection of racial justice. I am called to the work of Clergy Stuff, and of grant writing for a non-profit social service agency. I feel the hand of God in so much of what I am doing and I have a strong sense of certainty that wherever God leads me, I will flourish. The hard part is to quiet my constantly moving brain, that part of me that wants to fix, solve, direct, the part that wants guaranteed outcomes on my terms. I need to listen and follow and trust God for the outcomes.
Gracious God, guide me in the way you would have me go. Amen.
