2 Corinthians 5:11-6:13, The Ministry of Reconciliation

Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today

From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view, we know him no longer in that way. So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!

It’s easy to forget about God. That may be strange for you to read, but I think it’s a big truth that many of us struggle with.

Each day comes and goes, and we fail to see that God was present in so many places. We fill our minds with worries and trivialities that miss the mark to serve God in each moment.

True, I know that some are better at it than others. I take each day as it comes, but it’s regrettably easy for me to get caught up in . . . well, my own shit! I miss out!

How can we remind ourselves better of our God-given heritage to reconcile with others and live as Christ would have wanted us?

I think it begins with remembering our foundations daily. As Paul once wrote and Martin Luther repeated, it’s about a daily dying to sin and rising to new life.

And that takes practice!

What do you say? Wanna start now?
