Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today
“Around the throne, and on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind. he first living creature like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature with a face like a human face, and the fourth living creature like a flying eagle.”

More Metzger: “The function of [these] creatures…is to act, so to say, as choirmasters leading all the public worship in heaven…” “[Their] ceaseless worship…does not imply that this worship is their sole activity, but rather it is their constant disposition—their every action is an expression of adoration.” (Metzger, p. 50-51)
Wow. Their “constant disposition.” What would it be like if we lived this way? If everything we did and said was an expression of our adoration for God? How would it effect the way we interacted with others? With the customer service rep who tells us our insurance doesn’t cover that medication? With the kid who keeps parking their bike on our lawn? With that one person in our congregation who drives us a little nuts? How would it move us into a state of such gratitude and joy that we couldn’t help but let it spill over in love and service to others? Definitely something to think about today.
How might my actions today be an expression of my adoration for God?
