One of the wonderful aspects of holy scripture is that sometimes it just speaks for itself.

I’m a bit of a loss to say anything more about today’s Narrative Lectionary daily reading. Mostly because the Psalms aren’t necessarily something to be analyzed or “interpreted.”

As poetic expressions, the gift of the Psalms is that they move a person to simply reflect in the profound articulation of what it means to be human—and how we are thus connected, always to God, our refuge and strength!

Psalm 91 is one of my personal favorites, because it just says it. Period.

How about you? What’s your favorite passage in scripture that just speaks for itself?

Narrative Lectionary Daily Reading:

Because you have made the Lord your refuge,
   the Most High your dwelling-place,
no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.

For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
