Psalm 70, Psalm of Lament

Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today

Let those be put to shame and confusion
who seek my life.
Let those be turned back and brought to dishonour
who desire to hurt me.

Growing up, my mother would not allow me to use the word hate.

It didn’t matter how mean someone was, they were still a person, loved by God and deserving compassion - even if they had done you wrong.

It’s a hard pill for us humans to swallow - to offer mercy and love to our enemies when we’d LOVE to win this game of life.

But that’s not how it works.

At least it isn’t for me…my enemies have never suffered as I wished…and as an adult, I thank God for that.

Is it easy to forgive people who have hurt you deeply? What helps you to move on?
