Psalm 51, Psalm of Lament

Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today

Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin.
— Psalm 51:1-2

Right now, the world seems to be FASCINATED with cleanses.

Cleansing diets.

Cleansing footpads.

A removal of all toxins with a cleansing body wrap.

Many debate the effectiveness of these products - but one thing is for sure: we love the idea of feeling cleansed.

We are cleansed from our sins thanks to Jesus - but does it ever really hit home like a good, cleansing tea?

When do you feel you are forgiven from sins? Always? When you pray for forgiveness? During communion?
