Integrity (noun) (Merriam Webster)

1: firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values: incorruptibility

2: an unimpaired condition: soundness

3 : the quality or state of being complete or undivided: completeness

The psalmist is using the word in the first sense, I think. But I find it interesting that integrity also carries the idea of wholeness with it. When we walk in integrity, holding fast to God’s call to justice, grace, and mercy for all people, we also find ourselves drawn into community with God and others, and living a life marked by soundness and completeness. That isn’t to say that living this way makes life easy, but it does bring with it meaning and purpose, which is a beautiful thing.

Loving God, help me to live in integrity and wholeness with you and my neighbor. Amen.
