Isaiah 42:10-20, A Hymn of Praise

Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today

I will lead the blind by a road they do not know, by paths they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I will do, and I will not forsake them.
— Isaiah 42:16

I feel blind sometimes. Metaphorically speaking. There are times when despite all my intellect, all my resources, I am absolutely unable to see solutions to a problem. I stumble into obstacles, trip over bumps in the road, and feel abandoned to my confusion.

But when I give up and let God take my hand and lead me, things change. I am suddenly able to see things I hadn’t seen before. Obstacles I had bumped into prove to be guard rails directing me in a new way. Bumps in the road turn out to be merely a means to keep me from moving too fast in my own self-propulsion. I realize my blindness was a product of my own refusal to trust God.

What challenges am I facing that God can help me navigate?
