Stephen’s words put me to shame. Here he has spoken God’s truth and the people turn around and stone him to death. And as he is dying, he has no resentment toward God or towards those who are murdering him in the street. I get angry if someone cuts me off in traffic, for goodness sake! Could I possibly forgive someone for harming me because I spoke the truth? Yet I see this being played out all over the world—people willing to sacrifice in order to make others aware of the egregious harms we are doing to the earth and to one another. Not for personal glory, but because it is their call, regardless of the consequences.

Am I willing to sacrifice in order to speak God’s truth?
