Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today
NL Daily Devotion for Wednesday, April 22, 2020

Interesting that the onlookers of the pentecost event would first assume that the apostles were drunk! It must have been quite a sight.
Peter addresses their concern by first denying that there is any chemical involved in the Spirit’s workings.
Next, he quotes scripture to foretell that the signs everyone saw was a fulfillment of the promises of the Old Testament.
I think what it means for us today is that the work of the Holy Spirit may often seem strange, but, regardless, God will be present and continue to work.
God, you invite me to audaciously proclaim your goodness and mercy; give me strength. Amen.
