Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today
“ So it was that for an entire year they associated with the church and taught a great many people, and it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called ‘Christians’.”

It was in Antioch that the followers of Jesus were first called Christians.
As someone who loves language and history of words, I find it really disappointing that there is no exposition on how the name came to be - it just kind of shows up.
It also makes me wonder - was it always God’s intention that a new religion be formed? Or was God trying to reform what was in existence?
How important is a name in our faith group?
