The voices within scripture, and especially the prophets, call God’s people to do several things:

  1. First, to assess where they’ve been, and what’s been going on.

  2. To reevaluate their current position and attitude.

  3. To take steps to correct the path they’re going and foresee a positive outcome for the future.

It seems simple, when you look at it this way. Time after time, however, it’s not simple! It wasn’t for them, and it isn’t for us. Why is that?

Because scripture isn’t only about morality, but a renewing of identity; we find that a reminder to remember who and whose we are and what actions are needed, are what is required to take new actions in a new situation, here on earth.

What ways is God renewing you?
