Before I had kids, my cat, Dolby, was my child. After I had kids, he was just my cat. I adored him completely, but there was something different about the small, helpless creatures I birthed into the universe.
God birthed everything. All of us. Even cats. The creative act engenders a connection so intimate as to be overwhelming in its beauty. God loves all of us with that kind of unfathomable depth and breadth. We are God’s children, and therefore heirs. Exactly what we will inherit remains to be seen and understood, but we know it will come from this incredible love made complete in Jesus. And maybe it’s blasphemous, but I’m pretty sure Dolby will be there, too.
