When I was in college, The Count of Monte Cristo was released. A tale of vengeance, my friends loved it. Truly, there’s nothing like vengeance as a movie theme. I couldn’t explain it, but I thought that it wasn’t a great thing to devote your life to.

We see in The Princess Bride that once Inigo Montoya avenges his father’s death, he isn’t what to live for.

God does not wish us to seek revenge because THAT is up to God.

Sometimes, I wonder if God doesn’t want us to seek revenge because often, the people who hurt others have been badly hurt themselves.

If we don’t stop the cycle of hurting, it will never end.

It might not be fair, it may not be easy, but we should do our best to lead with kindness.

Have you ever reacted to someone’s anger with love and compassion? How did it turn out?
