Psalm 96, Praise to God Who Comes in Judgment

Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today

Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be revered above all gods.
— Psalm 96:3-4

For some reason, this makes me want to sing. Of course, the Psalms are meant to be sung, but why this one strikes me this way today…No idea. Something about just busting out and declaring in song that God is good! God has been SO good to me this past couple years in the midst of all the crazy that was 2023-24, in the midst of moving (for the third time in three years), making huge strides in finding resources for my special needs kids, and (*gasp!*) DATING! (Let me tell you about the love of my life, sometime). God is great and greatly to be praised! Wait! I know what it is! It’s the old Herb Brokering classic “Earth and All Stars”: “God has done ma-a-a-ar-vel-ous things! I, too, will praise God with a new song!!!” Yeah. That. Sing on, people. God is good!

What Bible passage makes me want to burst into song?
