And thank goodness for that! I don’t know about you, but I’m awfully far from perfect. Despite actively working to live a life of sane and happy usefulness centered in God’s call for my life, I regularly find myself plagued with fear, doubt, envy, greed, pride, procrastination, and (ha!) self-condemnation. Because of these flaws I sometimes say or do things I’m not proud of, and I have to make amends.

God gets it. God isn’t like people, whose default is more often to retaliate in kind. God’s grace and mercy are abundant, incomprehensibly so. God provides all we need, and brings us joy in our lives. We don’t earn it—we can’t. God just gives and gives and gives, usually when we feel we deserve it the least. How awesome is that?

Abundant God, you shower me with grace and bring me joy in the simple things of life. May I remember to be grateful every day. Amen.
