Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today

Welcome him then in the Lord with all joy, and honor such people, because he came close to death for the work of Christ.

NL Daily Devotion for Friday, July 24, 2020

by R. Fergus Moir, Clergy Stuff

There are lots of folks on the front lines in these days of COVID-19. Whether Christian or non-Christian, first responders, medical personnel, grocery store workers, and others who are daily at risk in their jobs are doing the work of Christ: serving and healing, giving aid to the sick and suffering, providing basic needs. They probably don’t think of it as such, but there it is.

It’s easy to take these things for granted if you’re not directly affected. I don’t often think of my own daughter—a grocery story worker—in this light. But these folks are heroes in my book, and I just wanted to uplift them here.

How can I “honor such people” in my life?
