loaves-fish

Person A: The real miracle of the loaves and fishes is that the people decided they would share with each other.

Person B: No! It’s that Jesus really multiplied the bread and the fish! It was a miracle!

Person A: Well, sure . . . I guess it was a miracle, too, that people were sharing.

Person B: No! Sharing is just nice! It’s not a miracle!

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been through this text and heard later from others only one of two ways you can interpret it. Well, is there a third way? A fourth?

Maybe even a fifth or sixth!

But the only other way I can see right now while writing for this daily devotion is that people continued to hang around Jesus even AFTER they had gotten so hungry.

That’s kind of another real miracle, isn’t it? Jesus was saying such AMAZING things, that it “fed” them with a spiritual food.

Well, that, and maybe a few other interpretations…

How do you see the miracle of the loaves and fishes?
