Mark’s gospel is full of stories of people bringing others to Jesus for healing. Crowds carry all sorts of sick people on mats (Mark6:53-56). A small group brings a man who is deaf (Mark 7:31-37). In this story, another small group brings a man who is blind. In every case those who know what Jesus can do take others to find him and receive healing. I wonder how they know. Is it simply because they have seen Jesus heal people? Or is it because they have been healed themselves?

We have all sorts of opportunities to invite people into God’s wide embrace. We who have experienced God’s healing and wholeness can reach out and extend that healing and wholeness to those who may not know. We can share honestly about our own stories, and about the change that happened when we let God into our lives. It’s not about telling people what we believe and what we think they ought to believe. It’s about our whole, transformed lives bearing witness to God’s grace and power.

How do my words and actions invite others into God’s healing and wholeness?
