Mark 3:7-12, A Multitude at the Seaside

Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today

Jesus departed with his disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him.
— Mark 3:7

NL Daily Devotion for Thursday, January 16, 2020

by R. Fergus Moir, Clergy Stuff

The word about Jesus was out. No matter where the guy went, people followed. People desperate for a word of hope and healing. People starving in body, mind, and spirit. And Jesus did not disappoint. He welcomed the unwelcome, touched the untouchable, loved the unlovable.

Our world is still desperate for a word of hope and healing, for the same willingness to reach across boundaries and uplift the suffering and oppressed. This is our call, and it is through our love-driven actions that the word of Jesus gets out.

Jesus, who is God with us, work through me to bring your unconditional love and healing to all who suffer, that all might experience your saving presence. Amen.
