Isaiah 41:1-20, Israel Assured of God’s Help

Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today

“You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off”; do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.
— Isaiah 41:9b-10

NL Daily Devotion for Monday, December 9, 2019

by Daniel D. Maurer, Clergy Stuff

In our search for spiritual peace, we often fail to see God’s presence through the struggles we must endure. That isn’t to say that God is the one who places stress, anxiety, sickness or the struggles before us.

But it does mean that God is there for us, no matter what.

When tragedy strikes or stress rears its ugly head, how do you usually respond? With me, I forget to look to the center, to the Infinite One.

The surprising thing about grace, though, is that God’s peace comes even despite myself.

Where do you find your center, your peace?
