Light vs. Darkness

I annoy my wife that I constantly turn off lights that she flips on and leaves on. Ostensibly, my reasons are to “save money” by “saving power.” But what it really boils down to is my need to have a dim household while she prefers one that’s brighter.

The thing about darkness is that we sometimes like it, because it’s not pressing down on us. At least, that’s how I look at it, but I’m probably nuts.

The light can sometimes be uncomfortable, because it shows us what’s really there, and it shows who we really are.

But sometimes, we need that.

Lord of light, cast not shadows, but illuminate your love for me, this day. Amen.
