“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to keep still.”

I have ADHD. Keeping still…not my thing. I don’t mean physically—I’m perfectly happy being sedentary. My brain, though! My brain! Running hither and yon, jumping up and down, doing cartwheels over the lawn of my consciousness. I can find myself like the Israelites with the Egyptians bearing down on them with armies and chariots. “Aaah! What do I do? Where do I go? Why is this happening? Who’s fault is it? How do I fix it?!?” I project forward into every possible catastrophic outcome, concoct three dozen plans of action based on a slew of “what-ifs” and “if-thens.”
“KNOCK IT OFF!” says God. “Peace. Be still. I’ve got this.” At which point God promptly parts the Red Sea and the path is made abundantly clear.
Honestly, how much less stressful my life would be if I simply got out of God’s way and became willing to follow where God leads!
Saving God, remind me I am never alone, and that you will fight for me if I just keep still. Amen.
