Little known fact: I wanted to name my kid Luke Owen Leetch so his initials would be LOL. I was overruled. (I could tell you what we really named him, but he’d kill me!)
Honestly, I just liked the idea that he would be reminded regularly that laughter is a gift from God. Sometimes we make things of faith so serious. But happiness, joy, and laughter are gifts God gave all people. Every person in every country over all time has been born with the ability to laugh. It’s part of being human.
Sarah laughed when she heard God promise her a baby. It was such a joke that, when it became reality, she named her son, Isaac, which means “he laughs.” Yes, one of the pillars of the Jewish and Christian faiths was named for laughter.
If you haven’t already, include in your new year’s resolutions to laugh every day. A shift in your outlook can make a huge difference in the quality of your life.

Genesis 21:1-7
The Lord dealt with Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as he had promised. Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the time of which God had spoken to him. Abraham gave the name Isaac to his son whom Sarah bore him. And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. Now Sarah said, “God has brought laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh with me.” And she said, “Who would ever have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.”
