Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today
NL Daily Devotion for Thursday, May 2, 2019

This story never meant much to me growing up.
Yay, Philip baptizes another person, that’s nothing special - at least not above and beyond any other stories, right?
Wrong.
A classmate of mine from Seminary who is trans pointed out that this story speaks to the loveability of those who are on the margin. A eunuch has been altered in a way that made them a “lesser” part of society - and still, the love of God is clearly for them! God doesn’t see the Eunuch as less than, God sees this person as a loveable child.
This story shows how God’s love doesn’t care what labels we are given by society. God’s love is for everyone no matter what.
How can God’s love for the eunuch inform how the church can support the LGBTQ community?
