Boldness comes where conviction and hope meet.

Read that sentence again and think it through.

One assumption it makes is that the hope and the conviction are actually pointing in the same direction, and that the source of that hope and the fire of the conviction speak the truth in love.

I dunno about you, but for me that’s a terrifying thing! I want to be certain—on my own—that whatever which way something should go, I have determined by my own research and instinct. Essentially, I want to skip the source and find my own truth.

Continually, I am reminded that I am not the end-all be-all to all knowledge and conviction. Somewhere, sometime, I will need to turn to one larger than myself to depend on.

That’s faith, believe it or not!

Thankfully, that’s what the first apostles figured out as well!
