Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today
NL Daily Devotion for Saturday, April 25, 2020

This is as true for us today as it was for Peter’s audience in Solomon’s Portico. Even if we are not direct biological descendants of Abraham, in Jesus’s death and resurrection we have all been adopted into God’s family, and are therefore descendants of God’s covenant.
In that covenant, we were all blessed, not in the sense of being given special status or material possessions, but in the sense of being called to bless others and all of God’s creation through our words and actions. If you have ever shown compassion to another person, if you have ever brought joy or eased pain or caused hope, you know deeply what it is to be a blessing to another person, and how, even more deeply, you yourself are blessed as a result.
This is a family tree whose roots are intertwined, whose branches reach across the universe, whose fruits nourish all that is. What an unfathomable gift to have been grafted to such a tree through Jesus’ love.
Where do I see opportunities to be a blessing to others through God’s blessing of me?
