There’s a saying that seems to show that people generally end up with leaders who they deserve. Looking at history, I don’t see how that could be any further from the truth.
And looking at the kind of leader King David was for the people, I don’t think it particularly applies to that situation, either.
One thing is for sure, leadership will never, ever be perfect. The difficult situation is always striving for that perfection in the best way we understand, and to support leaders who have the same goals in mind that we do.
The difficulty in modern times lies in the fact that we so often don’t really ever know what goals a certain candidate has. One response to this is to check out. I struggle with this one personally, because I often get so fed up with politics.
Justice calls for us all to be active in the ways that we can, so that God’s just leaders can create a better world.
