2 Corinthians 5:11-6:13, The Ministry of Reconciliation

Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today

So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!

We are made new every day. Creation is not a once and done thing. We come into being in our mother’s wombs, are born into the world, we may be baptized or dedicated or make a declaration of faith. At every step, we are claimed by God, loved completely, and created new. But God’s creativity is not limited by human social convention. At each moment in our lives, we have opportunities to bask in the wonder of what it means to be new—our body replaces its own cells regularly, we have opportunities to experience new things, or see old things in new ways. We are claimed again and again and invited to walk ever more closely with God. Revel this day in the fact that, because God, in Christ, first loved us, you are a new creation!

How can I practice awareness of my newness each day?
