Romans 3:21-31, Righteousness through Faith

Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today

Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, since God is one.

NL Daily Devotion for Thursday, May 11, 2023

by R. M. Fergus, Clergy Stuff

God is one. I love that. It’s just a beautiful reminder that we can’t exclude anyone. We can’t decide that God is only for straight people, or white people, or wealthy people, or people who live in the United States, or even Christians. Or even humans! God is the God of absolutely everyone and everything in all of creation and God’s love for all of creation cannot be limited under any circumstance. And contrary to the idea that so many Christians have that God will condemn (eternally!) anyone who doesn’t subscribe specifically to their understanding of who God is, in Christ, God redeemed all that exists, and therefore all are welcomed into God’s love and care (eternally!) no matter what. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Am I comfortable considering the idea that everyone is saved regardless of what they believe? Why or why not?
