Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today
NL Daily Devotion for Monday, March 11, 2019
by Daniel D. Maurer, Clergy Stuff
"I got you covered, man. No worries.”
Interesting turn of words, isn’t it? Kind of strange, too. What does it mean . . . “to cover”? Here the word means what we all know it does already—that the other person will be taking care of whatever needs doing.
The phrase means something else, too. Obviously!
It means, literally, to “cover” or to “put away.”
Try playing the game of “peek-a-boo” sometime with a little kid. They’ll think it’s the most brilliant game ever invented.
“You were here . . . then you were gone. And then you were here again!”
That God covers up our sins doesn’t mean that God will somehow uncover them again. No. Our sins have been covered. It means exactly what it says, that God remembers our sin no more.
God’s got you covered. Really!
Thank you, Lord, for putting away my sin, that I might begin anew each day. Amen.
