Psalm 103:6-14, Righteousness AND Grace

Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today

The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
He will not always accuse,
nor will he keep his anger for ever.
— Psalm 103:7

NL Daily Devotion for Monday, January 13, 2020

How do you envision God? It seems to be a simple question, but it’s so much more complicated than just blurting out an answer.

If God is a God of justice, then God’s righteous anger is justified . . . especially when you look at the state of the world some days.

However, we know that God is a God of grace and patience as well.

Is is possible that God is both? Absolutely. Just as we know it with people. Human beings are a deep, rich, melange of thoughts and emotions. Different days bring different circumstances, too.

In it all, God stands uniquely as one who saves, and the One who brings truth to life.

And that’s something worth knowing, every day!
