We all go through rough patches. I, myself, sometimes struggle with depression, not to mention the past year and a half of personal upheavals in my life on top of a global pandemic that left everyone isolated and bewildered. It might be easy to throw up my hands and say, “God? What God?” But I have to say that throughout my life’s challenges, I have seen countless little miracles, reminders of God’s steadfast presence in my life.

Just the other day as I was walking in an unfamiliar part of the city, a friend from my church (who lives nowhere near there) biked past and stopped to chat. He had beautiful words to share with me, and his usual open, loving attitude. I can’t tell you how much of an angel (a messenger of God) he was to me in that moment. It wasn’t what he said, it was just the fact of him being there and stopping to share a moment of fellowship. It changed my heart and turned my whole day around.

Maybe it’s a silly example—so many of us are dealing with extreme challenges. But I hold that God is good to us in the midst of whatever is happening in our lives.

Where have I seen God show up for me when I’ve been struggling?
