Narrative Lectionary Key Verse for Today

“My brothers, where do you come from?” They said, “We are from Haran.” He said to them, “Do you know Laban son of Nahor?” They said, “We do.” He said to them, “Is it well with him?”

All flesh goes to return to God. At one time, all things will revert to God’s hands.

It’s just the deal we get when we enter into this thing called “life.”

Saying goodbye is never easy, but it’s something we all have to do.

All the generations from Abraham on down, no matter how long they lived and what they did or didn’t do, come to one day to return to the earth.

To return to dust.

But in it all, we hold that the promises of God tell us that we shall be held in God’s motherly arms. We shall be welcomed home.

We’re not alone.

Thank you, Lord, that death does not win the day. Amen.
