See, I am making all things new (Rev 21:5). I don’t know about you, but I get a little thrill every time I think about this idea of being a “new creation.” It can be so easy to dwell in the past, to continually beat myself up for the ways in which I have made poor decisions or hurt other people. It gives me hope to be reminded that I don’t have to live in that place anymore, that I can change and be a new person.

But it’s not just about having a clean slate. When I think about being “a new creation” I get super pumped about all the things God is calling me to do, and how God promises to equip me to do them. I wonder about the new things God is doing in, with, and through me in the world. I feel a little electricity in my fingers as I stretch up on tiptoes and peek over the gate to what’s next.

What does it mean to me to be a new creation?
