Mysteries and Marvels

I love science. Okay, I'm lying. I love art, and I kinda hate science. And math. But I do appreciate the many amazing and marvelous things science and math have enabled us to do -- diseases cured, instantaneous communications across the oceans, people in space. I'm also intrigued by the billions of things we have yet to discover through the exploration of science and math -- mapping of the brain, more efficient stewarding of the planet, discovering new species in the depths of the ocean currently unavailable to us. 

I think the misunderstanding of science's role in the world has gone wild these days. People argue that science disproves things of religion. On the contrary! Science gives us a greater understanding of the marvelous, mighty, mysterious things of God! In fact, the more we learn, the more we discover we don't know yet! The mysteries of God only deepen the more we learn of the scientific explanations for everything. 

Here's a fun look at some of the mysteries science hasn't yet been able to unravel.

Narrative Lectionary Text: Ephesians 3:1-6

This is the reason that I Paul am a prisoner for Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles— for surely you have already heard of the commission of God’s grace that was given to me for you, and how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I wrote above in a few words, a reading of which will enable you to perceive my understanding of the mystery of Christ. In former generations this mystery was not made known to humankind, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit: that is, the Gentiles have become fellow-heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
