A Moment to Appreciate
I wonder if Peter and the followers ever took a moment to stop and survey all that they were doing in Jesus' name. It seems like there's a whirlwind of teaching, healing, traveling, preaching, miracles, and meeting new people from the moment Jesus appointed them. They were so busy doing all of these things - miraculous, unbelievable things - I hope they stopped once in a while just to take it all in.
My life is a bit of a whirlwind. Some days I move from writing to visioning to grocery shopping to cooking to cleaning to fixing to walking the dog to doctor's appointments to school conferences to drying tears to watching games and concerts. Sometimes I have to remind myself to stop for just a moment and take it all in. God has given me big, full life. I just have to remember to appreciate it.
Narrative Lectionary Text: Acts 5:12-16
Now many signs and wonders were done among the people through the apostles. And they were all together in Solomon’s Portico. None of the rest dared to join them, but the people held them in high esteem. Yet more than ever believers were added to the Lord, great numbers of both men and women, so that they even carried out the sick into the streets, and laid them on cots and mats, in order that Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he came by. A great number of people would also gather from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all cured.
