Job 25, Bildad Speaks

What good can come from an attitude like Bildad’s? In his opinion humans are maggots and worms. Less than the dim moon and lower than impure stars. It’s no wonder, in his opinion, that a mortal can never be righteous in the sight of God.

But God doesn’t see it that way. Remember God created the world, the universe, and all things, but wasn’t finished until God created humanity. It was as if God wasn’t satisfied until people were made. People are God’s crowning jewel. God gave up everything for love of God’s people. We are not maggots. We are beloved children of our creator, God.

Job 25

Then Bildad the Shuhite answered: “Dominion and fear are with God; he makes peace in his high heaven. Is there any number to his armies? Upon whom does his light not arise? How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure? If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his sight, how much less a mortal, who is a maggot, and a human being, who is a worm!”
