The announcements and appearances of Jesus increase. First it was a young man in a white robe standing inside the tomb. Jesus than appeared to Mary Magdalene, and now two more disciples see Jesus as they were walking in the country. The other disciples did not believe the testimony of their colleagues. From what is written is appears that the two disciples simply shared what they had seen and didn’t argue with the other disciples when they were not believed.

There are times when we are met with unbelief and feel we must defend our beliefs or argue our points. Rarely do we find this helpful. Discussing theological opinions and points of view is not sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. As disciples of Jesus we are called to bear witness to what we have seen and heard. Our words are a story and not an essay or a treatise. We share God’s love and grace by our words and actions, with our actions backing up our words. Our goal is to share what God has done and is doing—it is not to win an argument. Through our words and actions the Holy Spirit moves and creates faith in the lives of others.

After this he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. And they went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them.
